FAQs

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy is thought of as an introspective approach to looking at family dynamics and patterns of behavior. Talk therapy often involves discussion of historical experiences and the impact of those experiences on present day life. Coaching involves setting goals and taking regular action steps towards achieving those goals. As both a Clinical Psychologist and a licensed Coach, I integrate principles of both therapy and coaching into my work.

Can I use my insurance?

I do not bill insurance, but am happy to provide a superbill for your reimbursement to your insurance company. Many insurance providers will reimburse a portion of out of network provider fees.

What kind of commitment do I need to make?

In most cases, for Parent-Child coaching and therapy, families will see significant improvement with a total of 6-10 sessions. I recommend a general cadence of weekly sessions for the first month, followed by sessions every other week for 1-2 months. Monthly booster sessions as needed are also offered in order to maintain the gains achieved in the first 2-3 months.

For older children and teens, I recommend weekly therapy for the first month in order to establish a relationship and clear treatment goals. After the first month, it is often sufficient to meet weekly or bi-weekly. Treatment goals are often reached within 6 months.
